TryDocify

JSON in · PDF out

The cleanest JSON-to-PDF API for modern developers.

Describe a document as JSON — headings, tables, totals, notes, images. TryDocify typesets it with a native layout engine and returns a crisp, paginated PDF. No headless browser, no templates to host, no SDK to install.

  • Plain HTTPS + JSON
  • PDFs are never stored
  • Failed renders are free
  • Cancel anytime

Quickstart

One request. One PDF.

Works from any language that can make an HTTPS request. Here's the same invoice in cURL, JavaScript and C#.

  1. 1

    Get a key

    Pick a plan. Your API key is shown right after checkout.

  2. 2

    POST your JSON

    Send the document to /api/v1/generate with the X-API-Key header.

  3. 3

    Save the PDF

    The response body is the PDF. Credits left come back in a header.

curl -X POST https://api.trydocify.com/api/v1/generate \
  -H "X-API-Key: $TRYDOCIFY_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "title": "Invoice #1042",
    "header": { "left": "Acme Studio", "right": "INV-1042" },
    "blocks": [
      { "type": "keyValue", "items": [{ "key": "Billed to", "value": "Globex Corp." }] },
      { "type": "table",
        "columns": [{ "header": "Item" }, { "header": "Amount", "align": "right" }],
        "rows": [["Design audit", "$1,200.00"], ["Component library", "$2,550.00"]],
        "footer": [["Total", "$3,750.00"]] }
    ]
  }' \
  --output invoice.pdf

Why TryDocify

A PDF API that behaves like the rest of your stack.

Predictable JSON in, predictable documents out. No template language to learn and no rendering infrastructure to babysit.

  • 01

    Typeset, not screenshotted

    A native PDF layout engine instead of a headless browser. Text stays selectable and searchable, files stay small, and renders don't wait on Chromium cold starts.

    QuestPDF engine
  • 02

    Tables that paginate properly

    Long tables flow across pages with the header row repeated, striped rows and emphasized totals. Page numbers and running headers come built in.

    20,000 rows / table
  • 03

    Sub-2ms key validation

    API keys are HMAC-hashed and resolved through an in-memory cache in front of a single indexed SQL Server seek. Auth never becomes your bottleneck.

    Cached lookups
  • 04

    Ten composable blocks

    Headings, paragraphs, lists, key/value grids, tables, notes, images, dividers, spacers and page breaks. Enough for invoices, receipts, reports and statements.

    Typed JSON schema
  • 05

    Nothing stored, ever

    Your payload is rendered in memory and the PDF is streamed straight back. We keep usage counters, never document contents.

    Privacy by design
  • 06

    Errors you can act on

    Every failure is an RFC 9457 problem document with a stable code and a JSON path to the offending field. Rejected and failed requests are never billed.

    Fair billing

FAQ

Questions developers ask first.

How fast is the JSON to PDF API?

In our benchmarks a one-page invoice renders in about 12 ms, and a 35-page, 1,000-row report in about a quarter of a second. TryDocify uses a native PDF layout engine instead of a headless browser, so there's no browser start-up time. Every response includes an X-Render-Time-Ms header so you can measure it yourself.

What can I put in a document?

Ten block types: heading, paragraph, list, keyValue, table, note, image, divider, spacer and pageBreak. You can also set a title, running header and footer, page numbers, page size (A3, A4, A5, Letter, Legal), orientation, accent color, font size and margins.

Do you store my documents?

No. Payloads are rendered in memory and the PDF is streamed straight back to you. We only keep usage metadata (time, status code, duration, page count and size) for billing and your usage statistics.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Requests return HTTP 402 with the code quota_exceeded until your next billing period starts. You can upgrade from Starter to Pro at any time from the billing portal; the higher quota applies immediately.

Can I test my integration without using credits?

Yes. Add "test": true to the request body and you get the same PDF with a TEST watermark, free of charge. Each key gets 200 test renders a day. Remove the flag when you go live.

Is it a good .NET PDF generation API?

TryDocify is built on .NET and QuestPDF, and it's an HTTP API, so it works the same from C#, Node.js, Python, Go, PHP or a shell script. C# callers can use HttpClient with PostAsJsonAsync. No NuGet package required.

How do I get my API key after paying?

After checkout you land on a page that shows your key once. Store it in a secret manager. You can rotate it any time with POST /api/v1/keys/rotate, which keeps your credits and plan.

Ship your first PDF before your coffee cools.

One endpoint, one header, one JSON body. Plans start at $9 per month.
